Transporting satellites to CSG: end-to-end logistics

Arianespace offers a comprehensive logistics service to transport satellites from their manufacturing sites to the Guiana Space Center (CSG). Maritime transport combining an environmentally-responsible approach with safety is organized in partnership with ArianeGroup through the sail-powered ship Canopée, which offers co-shipping options to further reduce carbon footprint. Air transport is also favored by many of our customers for its speed and enhanced control. In collaboration with air cargo brokers, we charter aircraft suited to the specific needs of each mission.

Controlled launch operations

Launch operations begin well before the satellite arrives at the Guiana Space Center (CSG). Each campaign is meticulously planned by Arianespace, in collaboration with CNES and the customer’s teams. Upon arrival, the satellites are taken to our preparation facilities, where our experts oversee every stage from assembly to launch.

Controlled payload operations

Payload processing is a critical stage. Our cleanrooms provide a controlled environment for crucial operations, such as filling with propellant and integrating the satellites onto the launcher. Teams of specialized technicians work closely with customer representatives to ensure the compliance and safety of the satellites. The satellites are prepared in reception facilities before their integration onto the launchers and their transfer to the launch areas.

Bolstered safety and surveillance

The safety of our satellites and facilities is a priority for Arianespace. Each satellite transfer to CSG is escorted by the French Gendarmerie, ensuring maximum protection. In partnership with CNES, a high level of security is also guaranteed throughout the launch campaign. Finally, we assist our customers with customs procedures in French Guiana during transport and the launch campaign to ensure optimum coordination with forwarding agents.

Arianespace offers comprehensive and personalized assistance to our customers’ operational teams from the moment they arrive in French Guiana, one month prior to launch date, and throughout their stay.
